The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia has reached the semi-final stage, with France set to face Belgium, and Croatia taking on England.

The winners of the two matches will meet in Sunday's final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow where they will battle it out for the trophy.

Joy Sports pundit Emily Port predicts finalists.

France vs. Belgium

With the World Cup semi-finals to kick off tonight at 6 PM, it is a close call who will take the match between France and Belgium. France’s 2-0 defeat over Uruguay this past Friday left them confident to take on their opponents. Their ability to maintain possession and composure, even as a youthful team, is what has led them to this semi-final match. Mbappe has proven himself a force to be reckoned with, scoring twice so far in the knockout round.

On the other hand, Belgium had a much more rigorous match up against the five-time powerhouse, Brazil. An own goal, scored by midfielder Fernandinho, gave the Red Devils an early lead. However key defender, Thomas Meunier, is suspended after receiving a second yellow card. With his absence, coach Martinez may have to change his formation.

With Belgium’s instability, Emily is predicting that France will win this semi-final match and make it to the final stage of the Fifa World Cup.

Croatia vs. England

Croatia have had a long and stressful journey making their way to the semi-finals with their past two knockout matches won through penalties. The powerful midfielders Modric and Rakitic will come out fierce, keeping England on their toes.

This will be a much harder match for England than their previous games, with Croatia’s dynamic midfield as well at the back. The Three Lions team has not seen the semi-finals in almost thirty years, where they lost to West Germany in 1990. However, they have a well-built lineup starting at the front with Kane and leading all the way to the back with Pickford in goal.

Emily feels confident that England will take the match. She believes Croatia will put up a great fight, however, England’s composure throughout the World Cup, as well as their strong lineup, will lead them to the finals.
